What is SPORT detergent designed for?

SPORT by b clean co is a plant-based laundry detergent specifically formulated to deep clean activewear, gym gear, sports uniforms, and any clothing that holds sweat, odour and bacteria build-up. It's designed to de-funk performance fabrics that regular detergents can't fully clean. Great for activewear, footy uniforms, cricket whites, yoga gear, gym bags, hats, canvas sneakers and even smelly dog beds.

Why does my activewear still smell after washing?

Performance fabrics like polyester and nylon trap sweat, bacteria and body oils deep in the fibres. Regular detergents often can't penetrate these synthetic materials properly, so odour builds up over time. SPORT detergent contains 5 powerful plant-based enzymes (lipase, protease, amylase, mannanase and cellulase) that break down these biological residues at the fibre level. If your gear has significant build-up, we recommend doing a DE-FUNK soak first, then maintaining with SPORT in every wash.

What is the DE-FUNK process and how do I do it?

DE-FUNK is a deep soak process to strip out built-up sweat, bacteria and odour from your sports gear. Add 2-3 scoops of SPORT detergent to 5 litres of hot water and mix to dissolve the powder. Add your items — sneakers, hats, activewear, towels, anything that needs a serious clean — and soak for 2-4 hours. Then transfer to your washing machine and wash as normal with an extra rinse cycle. Once you've de-funked, maintain fresh gear by using SPORT detergent in every regular wash.

How much SPORT detergent should I use per wash?

Add 1 scoop (approximately 45 grams) to your main wash cycle for a standard load. Use half a scoop for smaller loads or hand washing. For best results, wash at 40-60 degrees (always check your garment care labels first), aim for a 3/4 full machine when wet for good agitation, and use a longer wash cycle rather than a quick wash. We also recommend a short prewash followed by a longer main wash for heavily soiled sports gear.

Is SPORT detergent safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. SPORT is free from SLS, SLES, parabens, phosphates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes and optical brighteners. It's made from plant and mineral-based ingredients and is scented with natural Australian native botanicals — Finger Lime and Quandong — which rinse free so there's no residual fragrance left on your clothes. It's also vegan and not tested on animals.

Is SPORT safe for septic systems and grey water?

Yes, SPORT is both grey water and septic system safe. The plant and mineral-based formula is designed to break down naturally without harming your plumbing, garden or the environment.

What are the ingredients in SPORT detergent?

SPORT contains sodium carbonate, sodium citrate, sodium percarbonate, sodium silicate, plant-based surfactants, sequestrants, five enzymes (lipase, protease, amylase, mannanase, cellulase), softener and natural fragrances. All ingredients are plant and mineral-based with no hidden nasties.

Can I use SPORT on items other than activewear?

Absolutely. SPORT is great for anything that holds stubborn odours or heavy soiling. Customers use it for kids' sports uniforms, work gear, tea towels, pet bedding, car seat covers, canvas shoes, gym bags, yoga mats, and even stubborn household items. If it stinks, SPORT can handle it.

Is SPORT detergent Australian made?

Yes. SPORT is proudly 100% Australian made and owned by b clean co, based in Adelaide, South Australia. By choosing SPORT you're supporting local Australian manufacturing and keeping Australians in jobs.

Can I apply SPORT powder directly onto my clothes?

No — do not apply the powder directly onto clothing as it could cause staining. Always dissolve the powder in water first, either in the machine's detergent dispenser during the wash cycle, or dissolved in hot water before adding to a soak or hand wash.
